Girls' Generation is Nominated for 2013's Best Female Artist at 'The 5th Philippine Kpop Awards'

Girls' Generation has once again proven to be a global hit for it was nominated as 2013's Best Female Artist at 'The 5th Philippine Kpop Awards', along with Sistar, A Pink, 2NE1 and Miss A.

Nominees were selected by PKCI's affiliate FCs, and the final candidates were those with the highest votes.

To vote, just visit the Philippines Kpop Convention page, click the tab at the upper right, as shown below, and then fill up the necessary information.

Public voting will be open until December 24. Announcement of winners will be on December 28, 2013 at the 5th Philippine Kpop Convention, SMX Halls 1-2.

'Love Rain' Is Set To Air In The Philippines Soon

Love Rain, starring Girls' Generation's YoonA (as Kim Yoon Hee & Jung Ha Na) and Jang Geun Suk (as Seo In Ha & Seo Joon), is set to air in Philippine television via ABS-CBN this coming April 29 replacing the hit drama "Ohlala Couple". Many Filipino fans showed excitement for the said release of the drama.

Love Rain depicts a pure love of the 1970s and a love from the present day. In the 1970s, Seo In Ha and Kim Yoon Hee, an art student and a shy beauty, met and fell in love with each other during college; but unfortunately their love was fated to never be.

Now in the present 21st century Korea, Seo In Ha's son, Seo Joon (a liberal photographer) meets the daughter of Kim Yoon Hee, Jung Ha Na, a cheerful and energetic girl whose personality is different from her mother's. At first, they both found each other to be a nuisance and troublesome. Gradually, their feelings develop for one another. In Ha was never quite gotten over his love for Yoon Hee, despite marrying one of her best friends, Hye Jung. He is over the moon when he sees Yoon Hee on the streets and the two reconcile and make up for time lost. Little do they know that their children are dating each other, and the greater shock comes when they announce their marriage to their children. But, Seo In Ha and Kim Yoon Hee did not continue their plan about their marriage which ends up being Seo Joon and Jung Ha Na together.

Meanwhile, fans can also watch Yoona in the drama "You Are My Destiny" on TV5 every weekdays at 10:30 AM, PST.

TaeTiSeo's Twinkle Ranks Top 16 on M.I.T. 20 Year-End Countdown

MYX is the number one music channel in the Philippines.

MYX International Top (M.I.T.) 20 is a show wherein Top 20 best international songs are chosen through votes of Filipino Music fans.

Every year, M.I.T.20 conduct a year-end countdown and choose top 20 international songs. The votes throughout the year are gathered and tallied in order to get the top 20 winners.

Girls’ Generation Leaves Messages for Korean Students Finished with College Entrance Examinations

On November 8th, the members of Girls’ Generation posted photos and messages on Girls’ Generation’s official website for Korean students who took the annual college entrance examinations. The nine members each posed for photos with handwritten messages, which were also shown in a separate image, seen below.

In their messages, the members congratulated students for having finished the difficult tests, which took place on November 8th, and encouraged them reward themselves and enjoy their free time after the exams.

Dream Kpop Fantasy Concert Information + Ticket Sales

Korean Media Holdings, one of Korea’s largest media content providers, and Gangnam dance academy DM School are collaborating on a multi-act event called “K-POP Fantasy Concert”, and DM School has confirmed that Girls’ Generation will be performing in the concert.

The “K-POP Fantasy Concert” will be held on January 19th, 2013 in Mall of Asia Open Grounds, Manila, Philippines. The artists who will perform alongside Girls' Generation are EXO-K, EXO-M, Infinite, U-Kiss, Tasty and Tahiti.

“K-POP Fantasy Concert” is a push by KMH to expand its operations overseas in light of K-Pop’s growing popularity in Southeast Asia. KMH is hoping that this event could spearhead future concerts or tours in this region.

This concert also marks the first time Girls’ Generation will be making an appearance in the Philippines and comes at a time when SM Entertainment is continuing to promote in Southeast Asia with events like SMTOWN in Jakarta and Singapore.

Tickets will go on sale starting on October 15th and can be purchased via SM Tickets, TicketNet, and TicketWorld.

ABSTRACT: ANNALS OF MUSIC about K-pop, the musical phenomenon which is sweeping Asia and may yet come to the West. Over the last two decades, South Korea, a country of around fifty million, has somehow figured out how to make pop hits for more than a billion and a half other Asians in countries like Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, and Thailand, contributing two billion dollars a year to Korea’s economy. K-pop’s success is based on a template created in the nineties by Lee Soo-man; Lee devised a system in which musicians are recruited as young teenagers, rigorously trained as singers and dancers, sometimes taught acting and even foreign languages, and often put together in groups which are unusually large by Western standards. (Girls’ Generation, one of the most popular bands, has nine members.) Musically, the songs tend to sound like typical global pop hits, but K-pop is distinguished by its attitude; where Western pop stars sing about sex, drinking, and clubbing, K-pop stars steer away from those topics. At this point, the creation of K-pop bands is almost an assembly-line process: Lee talks about South Korea’s ability to use “cultural technology” to create hit music. For today’s K-pop producers, the goal is expansion abroad. One band, EXO, records songs in both Korean and Mandarin. Writer talks with an executive at the American record label Interscope about his efforts to popularize K-pop in the U.S., and joins him at a performance in Anaheim, California.

Yuri Spent Almost 10 Hours at Shooting Scene for September Issue of CeCi Magazine

Girls' Generation Becomes First Millionare Group in Japan

Girl group SNSD recently set a big record in Japan.

On June 9, Japanese Record Association announced that SNSD’s first Japanese official album Girls’ Generation, which was released on June 1 of last year, has become a million seller album by selling over a million copies only in a year.

SNSD is the first Korean girl group, to set such a huge record in Japan. BoA is the only Korean female soloist, who has released a million selling album in Japan.

SNSD ranked first on the Oricon weekly album chart with their first official album in the first week of the album release. Then they set a new record by selling the most albums in Japan as a foreign artist. The group also ranked first on the Oricon weekly album chart for the first time as a Korean female group. It only took a year for the group to become a million seller.

SNSD will release their new single album Paparazzi on June 27 in Japan. The group recently released a promotional video for their new song “Paparazzi” and announced their return.
In the video, SNSD members appear in spot light as top stars. Tiffany, who is wearing sunglasses, leads the members and walks towards to the arena with bodyguards.
SNSD’s first unit group Taetiseo (Taeyeon, Tiffany, Seohyun), who has ranked first on several music programs since last May for a month, will also join the group again and will keep busy in Japan.

Girls’ Generation was recently featured in a Portuguese teen magazine. The article introduces the girls, talks briefly about how they became Girls’ Generation, and mentions three of their music videos: “Gee”,  ”Hoot” and “Run Devil Run”. Yoona Reflects on Her Time in ‘Love Rain’

Yoona, who starred in KBS 2TV’s Monday-Tuesday drama, “Love Rain”, (script by Oh Sooyeon, directed by Yoon Sukho), talked with Star News on May 30th through SM Entertainment. She said, “During ‘Love Rain’, I reflected on myself and considered it to be valuable time.”

Yoona continued, “It’s been a while since I was in a drama. ‘Love Rain’ is a drama that has allowed me to experience a lot of different emotions which I couldn’t feel before in my previous works. But above all, it was good to have time to reflect on myself once more.”

Yoona also mentioned, “I was even happier that I got to work with good actors and staff. I will try my best to grow and improve for everyone.”

She also said to the viewers, “Thank you so much to those who showed their support for ‘Love Rain’.” She told them, “Look forward to Yoona’s different image,” adding that, “She will become a more mature actress.”

The last episode of “Love Rain” aired on the May 29th, which brought a conclusion to the love story between Jang Geunsuk and Yoona’s characters, Seo Joon and Jung Hana.

TaeTiSeo and Sooyoung to Team-up for Special Goodbye Stage on Music Core

After debuting in early May, Girls' Generation's subgroup, Taetiseo, has held successful promotions for their first mini album, "Twinkle", winning on several music shows and taking the triple crown on Inkigayo. Though their promotions have been successful, it seems that the group will end them soon, as they will hold a goodbye stage on this week's episode of Music Core.

However, the group will go out with a bang--MBC has revealed through their official website that not only will Taetiseo perform "Twinkle" for the last time on Music Core, but they will be joined by Sooyoung and perform another track from their mini album, "OMG".

Although Taetiseo's promotions are coming to an end, Girls' Generation will return to the stage as nine soon, with the upcoming release of their Japanese single, "Paparazzi".

Kim Min Jong Picks Yuri as His Ideal Type

Singer and actor Kim Min Jong picked Yuri as his ideal type.

On SBS ‘Midnight TV Entertainment’ aired on May 30th, Kim Min Jong took part in the ideal type world cup after giving in to the request of the reporter. Among the candidates for his ideal types are f(x)’s Sulli and Krystal, Girls’ Generation’s Yuri and YoonA, IU, etc.

Without hesitation, Kim MinJong chose Yuri. After naming Yuri as his ideal world cup winner, Kim Min Jong sent a video message to Yuri saying, “Yuri-ya. If there’s a need, please call me anytime. If you need to have supper, please call me too. Take good care of your health and work hard.”

Girls' Generation Yoona is Chosen as No.1 Star Who Reminds Fans of Their First Love

May 30, being her 22nd birthday, Girls’ Generation (SNSD) member Yoona received a birthday present from fans, choosing her as the number one star that brings up memories of first loves. 

From May 22 to 29, the online community forum, DC Inside, held a poll titled, ‘Which Female Celebrity Reminds You of Your First Love?’ After the votes were in, the results showed that Yoona was the winner.

Out of 14,711 votes, Yoona took 6,278 votes (42.7 percent). Aside from her long straight hair, innocent looks, and beautiful smiles, Yoona’s participation in the recently ended KBS drama Love Rain, which revolved around the story of first love, must have helped the SNSD member gain a good majority of the votes.

Following after Yoona was Han Hyo Joo with 4,219 votes (28.7 percent), while third place was given to Han Ji Min with 1,271 votes (8.6 percent). Other celebrities on the list were Moon Geun Young, miss A’s Suzy and Han Ga In.

Taeyeon is Voted as No. 5 Hallyu Best Natural Face by Arirang

 Taeyeon was voted as no.5 by overseas fans as the best Hallyu Star with natural face (without makeup). These results information is surveyed by Arirang TV entertainment program “Showbiz in Korea,” surveys targeting overseas netizens.

Taeyeon is the leader of a very popular girl group from South Korea, Girls' Generation. She appears as the lead vocalist of the group. Also, she has cameo appearance on different Korean shows which help her gain more of her popularity. And her beautiful face gains more attention not just in Korea but also around the world.

Seohyun Looks Chic Rather Than Innocent

SNSD’s Seohyun is getting a lot of attention thanks to her fashion sense.

On May 23, Seohyun arrived at Incheon International Airport after attending the ‘MBC Korean Music Wave in Google.’

Seohyun looked feminine and chic in a grey glossy dress. She also wore black sunglasses, sandals, and bag, which made her look refined. Her long wavy hair and milky white skin also captured the public’s attention at the Airport.

People who saw the pictures responded: “Seohyun is the fashionista of Airport.” “She looks good in any clothes.” “Her fashion is the best.” “She is pretty.”
